Senior Accountant:

DNSFilter was born out of necessity. Our founders realized that the existing solutions for DNS security out there were clunky, convoluted and over priced. In 2015, they set out on a simple yet crucial mission—to revolutionize DNS security. We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings. We support nearly 14,000 organizations, including Fortune 500 customers like NVIDIA, and provide service to millions of end users. Our infrastructure is made up of two anycast networks with over 300 servers in 53 datacenters. At the start of 2020, our software was processing 1B queries/day. One year later, we’re now processing 12B queries/day! In the middle of a global pandemic, our team (and product) thrived. We doubled the size of our team, and we’re looking to do it all over again in 2021.

To streamline our processes and move our fiscal reporting in-house, we’re looking for a senior accountant who will take ownership of our monthly financial accounting. This includes monitoring general accounting practices, developing internal accounting controls and leading strategic projects related to finances and accounting. This role will report directly to the VP Finance and will have regular exposure to the senior management team and venture investors. However, we need someone who can “roll up their sleeves and get it done”.

In the short-term, you will:

  • Manage the process of bringing our accounting in-house from our third-party bookkeeping service
  • Explore system connections and document existing processes
  • Create an accounting policy manual detailing each step of our financial accounting and reporting process, with focus on key areas such as revenue recognition
  • Update and modify our month-end closing to be repeatable and scalable as we grow

Ongoing responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely close of US GAAP financial statements
  • Own all parts of the billing cycle, including credits/write-offs and following up on past due receivables
  • Serve as the main point of contact with the Customer Success team on billing related issues
  • Prepare and oversee prep of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation of monthly KPIs and board reporting packages
  • Research & implement technical accounting standards where applicable
  • Analyze revenue and expenses to ensure they are recorded accurately monthly and identify any unusual monthly trends
  • Oversee AR, AP, T&E and monthly credit card reconciliation process
  • Track daily/monthly metrics to help the leadership team make timely informed decisions
  • Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems
  • Assist with creating a centralized procurement function and oversee the rationalization of vendors
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the company’s first annual audit when the time comes (either in 2021 or 2022)
  • Own the tax filing and compliance function by working closely with our third-party tax advisors

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience, preferably a mix of public accounting and industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or similar experience)
  • A solid understanding of US GAAP and its application to private companies
  • The ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives while taking accountability for overall work
  • A strong work ethic, with the capability and desire to work in a dynamic and demanding environment to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the desire to build and lead a cross-functional team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills—and you are a problem solver by nature
  • A demonstrated ability to identify and create new processes where warranted

Bonus points for:

  • CPA
  • Experience with a venture capital or private equity backed company

We Offer:

  • A 100% work-from-home position with a company that values and fosters personal and professional growth
